CONTINUUM
IMMERSIVE AUDIOVISUAL COMPOSITION — 2025
Continuum is an immersive audiovisual composition that explores the layered structure of space and time on a cosmic scale. The composition visually reveals the temporal layers behind the visible phenomena of the universe, illustrating that its processes are nonlinear and evolve across multiple time planes simultaneously. The formation and destruction of stars, the movement of galaxies, and the distorting effects of black holes all form part of this complex temporal flow that transcends conventional human perceptions of time.
The work presents different layers of time as interconnected, showcasing the interplay of galactic events and the distortions of time itself. Viewers are offered a glimpse into the diversity of time scales — from the slow formation of nebulae to the explosive transformations of supernovae, and the curvature of spacetime caused by gravitational forces. These layers of time exist in constant interaction, suggesting that in the universe, time is not a linear progression but a dynamic, cyclically repeating structure in continuous transformation.
Continuum invites viewers to immerse themselves in the non-linear, layered nature of time, where past, present, and future intertwine. Through its visual language, the installation evokes the gradual formation and transformation of these time layers, conveying the vastness of cosmic timescales. It reflects on the relativity of time, demonstrating how events unfolding over billions of years can be simultaneously perceived and emotionally experienced within an interconnected spacetime continuum.
Continuum was originally designed for a fully immersive space — with all four walls and the ceiling used as projection surfaces the work creates an enveloping environment where the boundaries of time and space dissolve. While tailored to this specific setup, the piece is adaptable to other immersive environments, such as fulldome format preserving its conceptual and sensory depth across various spatial configurations.
